Congrats to the raffle winner~! I would've entered myself but I've been so busy with work that I haven't had the pleasure of reading your blog as I usually do ;o;
But it seems you've been having lots of fun & also being very busy yourself with all your projects [reading all the back blog entries]
A week ago I was off in California visiting with family & friends and I came back with a suitcase full of manga, anime, & my favorite japanese snacks ^o^ I got Kagetora #5, you've worked on that one haven't you? :D I always think of you when I see manga you've said you've worked on translating hehe.
Sorry I rambled >>;;; Hehe ^^;;; Hope you're doing well~! <3
Hi!
Which part of California did you go to?
I only know the LA area, and I still don't know much because I don't really go out, but I hope you had fun.
Did you come when it was hot or cold?
The weather's been hot-cold-hot lately...during the day it's like summertime.
I'm glad you got KAGETORA #5!
That was the volume I looked up a lot for the translation notes.
I wanted to add more information than the normal travel guides for the places in Kyoto.
I hope you enjoy it!!
My parents live about 30 minutes south of LA [well 30 minutes if there isn't a lot of traffic] When I was there the weather was very nice, in the 60's & 70's which is really nice because where I am right it's cold, but not as cold as when it was winter [then there was snow everywhere!]. I only really like to go out when I have friends to be with, otherwise I wouldn't go out hehe.
I love to read the translation notes because I like to learn more about the cultural references made in the mangas that I read. I haven't gotten to Kagetora #5 yet because I still need to read #4 :D But I'll definitely pay close attention the the translation notes! <3
Oh, perhaps the south bay area?
I play tennis in that area.
There's lots of good Korean and Japanese food there...mm.
I think the reason why I like working on manga is because I can add translation notes.
When I work on movies, I am required to adapt more to match the audience of the target language.
I don't know if everyone who reads manga read the translation notes, but I hope they do!
*shakes head* I meant Southwest, outside of City of Industry, perhaps you know where that is?
And I understand your point on that entirely! Well you know that I read them, I always enjoy reaching the end of a manga and reading notes <3
I'm not very good at tennis ._. I'm better at badminton, but tennis is still fun to play!
Yes, I do know the city of industry.
I hardly go there though...actually, I don't really go anywhere because of work. :P
I'm glad at least some people are reading the notes :D
I'll continue to work hard on them!
I like badminton too!
But I was discouraged from it by my tennis coach in high school, because it ruins my form in tennis.
Badminton is more about the wrist snap, and you can't do that in tennis (or you'd get injured!)
