I spent the day reading manga at a manga cafe. I couldn't buy anymore manga because it wouldn't fit, so my only option was to read everything I wanted before I left.
At the manga cafe, I got an email from a new client asking me if I would be interested in translating something for them. I love working on video games, so of course I said yes. I hope it works out!
At night, I went to dinner with a bunch of industry people. Sato-san, who I always see at Anime Expo, was there. He's in charge of the noitaminA stuff...I think. I'm not really sure.
Konno-san, former Bandai Visual USA president, was there too. I haven't seen him since BV USA left, so it was nice to see him again.
Tezukacchi from Bushiroad was there. I just saw him a few weeks ago. He said that because his president Kidani-san met with me, he was gung-ho about taking Vanguard to the United States now. So you'll probably see them at a convention or two this year? Maybe?
And the last one to arrive was Hidehiro-kun, the super otaku. Actually, he's former industry. He was a staff? or something at Viz Media, and I think he was staff at Sakura Con too. I'm not sure... But I just know he came to talk to my sister because he is a huge Galaxy Angel fan, lol.
We had okonomiyaki, because that's what I requested.
The store was Gottsui, which has a store near my house.
I went to Akihabara to shop for Monster Hunter goods. I needed to eat lunch, so I went to the Gundam Cafe.
Haro strawberry latte.
I ate the Char Curry at the Char table. I'm not even a fan of Gundam... I felt a little bad.
I didn't have to go to the bathroom, but I knew that they would have something in there, so I went.
And just as I thought...
Later that night, I went to dinner with Shigeto Koyama-san, Hiromi Wakabayashi-san, and Atsushi Nishigori-san.
I think the last time I saw all three TOGETHER was when we were out taking pictures of Southern California for Panty & Stocking purposes. (Individually, I see Koyama-san and Wakabayashi-san a lot, haha.)
We went to eat monja and okonomiyaki.
It was a fun night.
I think we were at the restaurant for about 4 hours.
I met up with Bamboo-san because last year at Anime Expo he promised he would take me to eat good monja.
We met at his office. He had a pretty spiffy-looking studio.
Singer and superstar yozuca* came along, too! I haven't seen her since she came to Anime Expo back when it was in Long Beach, so it was fun.
We went to Tsukishima, where monja was invented, for dinner.
We talked about how Bamboo-san could get married. He always kids that he wants a girlfriend from the U.S.
So I told him he should go meet girls at Yaoi Con this year, especially because it's going to be in LA. We even joked that he could be auctioned off at the Bishonen Auction. Although even if Bamboo-san looks young, he's XX years old. It would be a Bichunen Auction...
I don't even know how one gets into the Bishonen Auction. If someone from Yaoi Con could tell me, I would appreciate it.
