My friend Y wanted to eat suppon (snapping turtle/soft-shelled turtle), while we were in Kyoto, so after much deliberation I agreed.
So we're going.
Why did I hesitate?
Well, it's really, really expensive.
I would have to translate XX pages of manga.
But my father seemed to okay it (my father is the foodie in the family. Sort of), so I thought, "what the heck."
Another reason I decided to go for it was because the store we're going to is the best in suppon cuisine, and was featured in Oishinbo twice.
TWICE.
I want to step into the Oishinbo world at least once.
By the way, suppon is featured in a saying where you compare the moon and the suppon.
It's like saying, "different as day and night."
I often hear it when comparing two females in manga.
There is also another saying using suppon, such as "he wouldn't let go of me; he was like a suppon."
Another thought.
Add another "pon" and it means "butt naked."
