I finished Shugo Chara #12...two days ago? I can't remember anymore. It's all a blur.
I'm currently working on another manga series. The anime is completely done with, and it should be available soon. The manga series + this new work is going to kill me. I have to finish three volumes in the next three weeks, because I have a business trip coming up. (More on that another day).
The new work is a video game. Even though I'm sharing the game with another translator (I've worked with her before), it's still...400,000 Japanese characters. (I got the number from my client).
I just opened the file and it's...wow, pretty overwhelming.
So I gave up on the two parties hosted by two different friends this weekend. I will be watching Super Bowl alone. Seriously.
The title of this entry is from my friend A, who is describing the amount of work I'm getting.
Anyway...wish me luck!
Oh, and happy setsubun! Hopefully we can all keep the oni away.
Shoooooooooot! I haven't updated for so long...wow...
I've been working here and there... Obviously still working on the Code Geass anthologies... I haven't seen the final product or reviews. If you have comments, please send them my way... Or if you know of reviews, please send me links.
Around Thanksgiving I got more work. Just as I was heading off to Hawaii. So it was pretty hectic.
I'm not sure if I can talk about them. Let me check...
***After 2 minutes***
Okay, I don't see it on the company's website, so I'll keep quiet. It's not a new series, but if the volume is not listed, I won't say anything.
As I was working on that deadline, I got more work.
Oh! I looked, and this one is listed on the company's website. (Just in case, I looked on Amazon too...it's there)
So currently I'm working on Shugo Chara #11. I'll talk more about that in a different post.
Because as I was working on Shugo Chara #11, I got an inquiry from a new client. It's still not full-on work, but if I get the job, I'm going to be really busy in January. So right now I'm focused on finishing Shugo.
So...that's my past two months (work-related) in a nutshell.
The other day I went to a BBQ hosted by the men of my mixed doubles team.
We had it at P's house, a nice-looking condo in Playa Vista, right across from EA Games. P had just moved in...he said March, which, considering that it's July now, is not "just moved in," but P has been busy working on TRON: Legacy.
Just like me, P is a guy who loves tennis who works in the entertainment industry.
So just as expected, almost NOTHING in his house was unpacked... except for...
1) a 55" TV, mounted above the fireplace. 2) a Wii 3) a PS3 4) an Xbox 360 5) his computer (plus two monitors, since he's a CG animator)
Obvious necessities. I totally understand.
Here are some pictures of the BBQ.
We had 5 pieces of these chunks of Picanha beef. P's hand is there to show how big it is.
Currently I'm working on three projects. Simultaneously. This is what I call "feast time."
I'm working on the Code Geass anthologies (ongoing), a secret project soon to be revealed (maybe...I don't know. It's a NEW client!), and I'll be starting work on Shugo Chara #10 this weekend.
I'm also preparing my trip to Fanime. I'm not going to "work" as usual. I'm meeting my three industry friends who live up there (one working at Company V, another in video game Company S, and one...I don't know where), plus my best friend from high school who works at one of the most famous companies in North California. (Not industry)
At Fanime, I hope to touch base with a few of my existing clients. Company G, video game Company A, Company JC, etc... I'll be going on Saturday and Sunday.
Of course, I will be checking out the Left 4 Dead 2 tournament to recruit online friends.
I started working on the holiday cards. Just the ones to send to Japan, because it takes longer to get there.
Usually I type out my text and print it on a sticker, then paste it onto the card. Then I write, “Happy Holidays!!” and sign my name in English at the bottom. It was a little hard writing the cards because of my hand…
So I’m working on it very slowly. I hope I can get it all done by Monday and send it out.
By the way, it’s still not too late for my friends to request a card. Remember to e-mail me your address!
